If you are a woman in Beijing, who drives, the police seem to think you are incapable of driving without assistant or at all.
The Beijing police department decided to help women drivers stay safe on the road and offered a few “helping” tips.
The “advice” or “tips” make women drivers appear naïve, dumb, and completely clueless about driving. The police posted it on their verified account, which has nearly 6 million followers, online according to NBC News.
The post titled “Women Drivers Please Take Care to Avoid These Mistakes” stated that women cannot drive alone because they are “are not able to find the way to their destination, even if they’ve been there many times.”
According to the posts, women do not know how to use the handbrake either. "The handbrake is normally used to keep the car stationary. A lot of new female drivers often start to drive in a hurry without releasing the handbrake,” reported BBC News.
Whether the police department expected their post to go overly smoothly, it has sparked outrage among the women in Beijing. Despite the backlash, the post is still on their site and the department has not commented.
