Rider Strong of Boy Meets World fame is opening up about being a teen heartthrob in the ‘90s. Now 33 and newly-married, the actor talked to Cosmopolitan about being uncomfortable with his status.

"It just wasn't for me,” he admitted, adding that he hated his famous hairstyle. “I came to the audition with that hairstyle, got the part, and the director Michael Jacobs never let me cut it from there on out,” he said. Strong also said he cut it as soon as he found out the show was ending.

It hasn’t been confirmed whether or not Strong will be a part of the Boy Meets World spin-off Girl Meets World. He did say he hopes to direct and also acknowledges he will “probably have to make an appearance at some point because my character was such a big part” of the show.

As for his status as a heartthrob, he opened up about it and said he “was never super-comfortable with it to be honest. I'm not a shy person, but I'm not the guy who wants to get his picture taken and want to be front and center.”

Strong also admitted it was years down the road that he realized he was even put in that category. “Somehow it was me, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, and a few other guys that were on safe shows, but our characters were relatively edgy,” he said.
