Researchers tested the contents of chicken nuggets to find that they are made of chicken parts other than meat, like blood vessels, fat, and cartilage.

The study was published in the American Journal of Medicine. The researchers tested two samples of chicken nuggets. However, they would not disclose from which restaurant chains the samples originated.

The study’s authors wrote that the first sample was “about half muscle, with the rest a mix of fat, blood vessels, and nerves. The second sample was 60% “fat, cartilage, and pieces of bone," according to CBS.

The National Chicken Foundation rebutted that this study is flawed because only two samples were tested, according to Grub Street.

Nevertheless, the researchers insist that these particular unnamed restaurants “have chosen to use an artificial mixture of chicken parts rather than low-fat chicken white meat. It is really a chicken by-product high in calories, salt, sugar, and fat that is a very unhealthy choice.”

Would you still eat chicken nuggets knowing at least some of them are full of nerves and blood vessels?
