Chris Brown was released from jail on Monday after being arrested early Sunday morning on a felony assault charge.

The “Fine China” singer’s felony charge was released to a misdemeanor, however, and he was freed without having to post bail. He flashed a peace sign as he exited custody.

“We understand that his security acted to protect Mr. Brown and Mr. Brown's property as he was authorized to do under District of Columbia law. We are confident that Mr. Brown will be exonerated of any wrongdoing,” said Brown’s lawyer, Danny Onorato, outside of the courthouse on Monday, Fox News reports.

Brown was arrested for punching a man outside of the W Hotel in Washington D.C. after he hosted a party nearby. The alleged victim, who was treated at a local hospital, claims Brown broke his nose.

The other party claims Brown went ballistic on him for photobombing a picture he was taking with two female fans, but sources close to Brown say he was trying to prevent the man from coming on his tour bus.

Even though the charge was reduced, Brown faces consequences for breaking the terms of his probation, stemming from his 2009 incident with Rihanna.
