Last night at midnight, Eminem released the fourth single off of his highly anticipated album, MMLP2. Within minutes of the single being released, Twitter, Facebook and other social media outlets exploded with discussion around the new single. Eminem’s latest single, “The Monster,” features Rihanna. The single is already number four and climbing on the iTunes charts.

The pairing of Eminem and Rihanna has found success before with their smash hit single, “Love The Way You Lie.” “The Monster” is a darker more aggressive single compared to “Love The Way You Lie” but the change is welcomed. Fans are seeing a different side of Rihanna with her aggressive vocals in the chorus. When it comes to Eminem’s lyrics, he does not disappoint fans.

The overall theme of “The Monster” appears to be dealing with mental issues, including insanity and Eminem's lyrics create the crazy environment within the minds of fans. Eminem discusses his rise to fame and how he did not necessarily want to be known for anything other than his music. Eminem raps, “I wanted the fame, but not the cover of Newsweek
. Oh well, guess beggers can't be choosey
. Wanted to receive attention for my music
. Wanted to be left alone, public excuse me.”

Eminem has a common theme of facing his personal demons head on and discussing that fight through his music starting with “Not Afraid,” and now with “The Monster.”

The chorus is haunting, the lyrics are stunning and this is a standout track from what fans have heard so far off of MMLP2.

What do you think of the new single? Are you looking forward to the new album from Eminem?
