A condemned building in Paris that used to be housing has been turned into a street art exhibition until the building is taken down.
The street art exhibition, entitled "Tour Paris 13," is open to the public until November, when the building will be demolished bit by bit, France24 reports. The exhibition name comes from the 13th arrondissement in eastern Paris.
80 Artists came from all over the world to leave their mark on the doomed building. Each artist was given a piece of the building for their work, be it the outside walls or each apartment. None of the art will be sold after the exhibition, it will all be destroyed when the building comes down.
The Associated Press reports that Tour Paris 13 was Mehdi Ben Cheikh's, who is a gallery owner, idea.
"I didn't want the spectators to come and look at art. I wanted spectators to come and enter an art work," Cheikh said. "There are things everywhere -- we enter a room, and have to turn around in every direction to understand the surroundings."
Only 49 people are allowed in to view the art at one time, which has left some visitors waiting eight hours just to spend an hour in the building. Though the building is condemned and coming down, there are a few residents left who refuse to leave.
