Tony Romo had an absolutely phenomenal game on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, but just before the two minute warning, he threw an interception, and the Dallas Cowboys lost 51-48.

According to The Dallas Morning News, Romo had thrown five touchdowns for 506 yards total, giving him a new career-high and the distinction of being one of only 15 players to have thrown more than 500 yards in NFL history.

Unfortunately, Romo was unable to deliver when the Cowboys really needed a push. With only two minutes left in the game, Danny Trevathan intercepted a pass made by Romo intended for Cowboys tight end Gavin Escobar. Denver converted two first downs and scored a field goal as the time ran out.

Nevertheless, the Cowboys competed well against one of the best teams in the NFL. “I’m extremely encouraged over the way we competed, the way we were undaunted. I’m encouraged we played at the level we played in a lot of areas. This was a moral victory today for us," Dallas head coach Jerry Jones said.

The big question is whether or not the Cowboys' performance against Denver, led by Peyton Manning, was a moral victory or evidence of this team lacking the ability to finish a close game.

According to The Huffington Post, Romo stated, "I didn't put it exactly where I need to to complete the pass. And it's frustrating and disappointing."

Linebacker Sean Lee described the Cowboys defense as terrible, saying, "“The way we’re playing, we’re not helping our team at all. That’s the standard right now in the NFL. If we want to be a championship team, we’ve got to be able to stop a team like that...We’re not even close right now.”

The head coach of the Cowboys called the game a moral victory, but the players were unsatisfied. Fortunately the team is still tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for the lead in the NFC East.

The Dallas Cowboys will face the Washington Redskins on Sunday, October 13.
