Dave Eggers is denying claims that his new book The Circle plagiarizes from Kate Losse.

Kate Losse has claimed through Medium that The Circle plagiarizes her Facebook memoir The Boy Kings, The Atlantic Wire reports. She claims the book is merely a rewritten version of hers.

Eggers released a statement denying the claim saying, "I want to make it clear that I have never read and have never heard of her book before today."

The author also wonders how Losse could know since his book isn't out until next week. She can't have read it "because The Circle has not been released, it's my understanding that Kate Loss has not read my novel yet." Something Losse has confirmed.

Eggers added, "So I trust that when she does read it she'll understand that I have not read, and certainly not lifted anything from, her book."

According to Tech Crunch, The Circle is about life at fictional tech company and Eggers said in a statement that he "did not, in fact, read any books about any internet companies, or about the experiences of anyone working at any of these companies, either before or while writing The Circle."

Losse has admitted to not reading Eggers' book yet, but bases her accusations off an excerpt from The Circle that was published by The New York Times Magazine.
