20th Century Fox is setting out prime real estate to give David Fincher another shot to finally win some Oscars. The Social Network director’s new project, Gone Girl, will hit theaters in October 2014, right at the start of that year’s awards season.

Box Office Mojo shows that Fox has just set the film for an Oct. 3, 2014 release. The only other film scheduled for release that day is Dracula Untold, a horror film from Universal. The following week, the film will be up against Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Sony’s The Interview and Warner Bros.’ The Judge.

Gone Girl will be Fincher’s first film since his adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. He has been nominated for the Best Directing Oscar twice, for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Social Network, but has yet to won. Both of those films also snagged Best Picture nominations.

The film will star Ben Affleck as a man accused of having a role in his wife’s disappearance. The cast has already been fleshed out with talent like Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry. Model Emily Ratajkowski, who can be spotted in the “Blurred Lines” video, will also have a role.

It is based on the novel by Gillian Flynn.
