Disney has announced it is working on a live-action film for Cruella de Vil titled Cruella.

The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that the movie is being developed and Alina Brosh McKenna has been brought on to write Cruella.

Andrew Gunn and and McKenna will produce the movie.

De Vil has appeared in film for the 1961 Disney animated movie One Hundred and One Dalmatians. The villain then also appeared in the live-action adaptations 101 Dalmatians and 102 Dalmations, played by Glenn Close.

Close will be executive producing Cruella.

According to Cinema Blend, McKenna penned the forthcoming adaptation of Cinderella, directed by Kenneth Branagh, and Annie, which stars Quvenzhane Wallis and is currently in production.

While de Vil has appeared in several films, the character was created by Dodie Smith in the 1956 book The Hundred and One Dalmatians. The character was described to be heavily into fashion who desperately wanted a Dalmatian fur coat.

This is the second villain-centric film being made by Disney. The movie company is currently in post-production for Maleficent, which is due out summer 2014.
