Drake released his third studio album Nothing Was The Same last week and the highly anticipated album’s first week sales are in. They are pretty good and in addition he is on top of the charts.
HotNewHipHop has reported that Nothing Was The Same met expectations and debuted at number one on the Billboard charts this week.
The album moved 658,179 units which is more than his last solo effort, Take Care moved in its first week. This is the second highest debut of the year, following Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience which sold 968,000 copies its first week and has already surpassed 2 million units since its release.
According to freeonsmash Drake is number one on the Billboard charts and behind him is Kings of Leon, Cher, Elton John, Luke Bryan and Jack Johnson. Kings of Leon’s Mechanical Bull sold over 500,000 less copies than Drake.
According to Huffington Post Nothing Was The Same marks Drake’s third Number one album as well as his highest premiere to date. His 2010 debut album Thank Me Later moved 447,000 units in its first week and his 2011 album sophomore album Take Care sold 631,000 in its first week.
Although, Drake wanted to sell a million in a week, he didn’t quite get there. Don’t be surprised if he goes platinum very soon.
