An Eastern Michigan University student was found shot to dead in his off campus housing, which has sparked an investigation on campus.
Demarius Reed attended the university as a Communications, Media, and Theater major while playing football. The La Times reported that Demetrius came to Eastern Michigan from Chicago, staying away from gangs where he was from.
ABC notes that Reed’s roommate found his body around 7:15 a.m. in the hallway of the apartment building with multiple gunshot wounds and items missing.
Ypsilanti Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding Reed’s death as the school fully cooperates.
Reed’s family is hurt and shocked at his death. “I loved him. He was my best friend and my son at the same time. It's really unfortunate what happened, I'm really at a loss for words," said Carl Reed, his father.
The police are looking at his death as an apartment robbery. Reed’s grandfather mentioned that Reed’s passion was football and he fiercely loved his family.
