John Belushi is known for his comedic timing, his role in Animal House and his time on Saturday Night Live. Now the life of Belushi will be brought to film. Savages star Emile Hirsch has been casted to play Belushi in the upcoming untitled film.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Steve Conrad wrote the script and will direct the biopic. Also announced was that longtime friend of Bleushi, Dan Aykroyd would produce the film.
The film is set to focus on Belushi’s rise to fame during the late ‘70s and will explore Belushi’s fatal drug overdose at age 33. Bleushi was one of the original cast members on Saturday Night Live and starred in The Blues Brothers and 19411>.
The film is set to start production in the spring, according to AP.
No release date has been announced yet for the film.
Hirsch is known for his work on Into The Wild and Speed Racer. Hirsch was most recently seen in the indie movie, Prince Avalanche.
