Eminem is opening up about his new album Marshall Mathers LP 2, admitting this is the hardest he’s worked in the entirety of his career.
The rapper recorded the new album in a Detroit studio and admits to being a bit sleep deprived.
"Right now, I'm probably working harder than I've ever worked in my life," he told Rolling Stone. "Aside from around the time of The Eminem Show, when I was also doing the 8 Mile movie and soundtrack and score and sh-t like that. This is probably the equivalent of that, but all focused on the record."
MMLP 2 will be available on Nov. 5, and Eminem describes it by saying it’s "not necessarily a sequel, as much as it is a revisitation.
There are some old school hip hop elements to it, which is evident in his single “Bezerk” but his collaborations with Rihanna, Skylar Grey, Kendrick Lamar, and fun.'s Nate Ruess give it a new life.
He explained, "Calling it The Marshall Mathers LP 2, obviously I knew that there might be certain expectations. I wouldn't want to call it that just for the sake of calling it that. I had to make sure that I had the right songs – and just when you think you got it, you listen and you're like, 'F--k, man! I feel like it needs this or that,' to paint the whole picture."
Instead of making it like a sequel, he said he named the album MMLP2 because it’s continues the “vibe, and it's more about the nostalgia."
