YouTube will host its own “YouTube Music Awards” on November 3 in New York City.
"Our point is to celebrate YouTube's role in the music ecosystem," YouTube’s vice president of marketing, Danielle Tiedt, said about the event, according to USA Today.
The awards show will take place at Pier 36 in NYC, and will be hosted by Jason Schwartzman. The 90 minute program will, appropriately, be aired on YouTube.
YouTube will hand out seven awards throughout the night, and nominees will be announced on Oct. 17, based on how many views and shares their YouTube videos have. Then, fans will be able to vote for the winners.
According to ABC News, guest performers at the event will include Lady Gaga, Eminem, and Arcade Fire.
Tiedt explains, "If you think about how most of us encounter music, it's usually on YouTube, whether it's stars like Miley Cyrus and her VMA performance or her new Wrecking Ball video, or musicians like Lindsey (Stirling), who broke thanks to our site."
