Fleetwood Mac has canceled their upcoming tour because John McVie has been diagnosed with cancer.

According to NBC News the legendary band notified fans by writing a message on their website.

The message explains that the British-American band cancelled their upcoming 14 date tour of Australia and New Zealand so that co-founder John McVie could get treatment for cancer.

The message begins by saying, “Fleetwood Mac, who has just completed the European leg of their phenomenally successful worldwide tour, has announced the cancellation of their upcoming 14 date tour of Australia and New Zealand.”

It continues, “We are sorry to not be able to play these Australian and New Zealand dates. We hope our Australian and New Zealand fans as well as Fleetwood Mac fans everywhere will join us in wishing John and his family all the best.”

The statement from band members Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and Mick Fleetwood did not reveal what type of Cancer McVie has been diagnosed with.

67-year-old McVie, the bassist for the band, co-founded the group with Mick Fleetwood in 1967.

The band is well-known for their body of work including “Rhiannon,” “Don’t Stop,” “Go Your Own Way,” and “Gypsy.”

E! Online reports that Stevie Nicks first announced the band’s upcoming tour on CBS This Morning in 2012.

“Next year, so far,” Nicks said. “It’s the plan. Because that’s what we do. I do my thing. And Lindsey is out doing his thing right now.”
