Michael Hayden, the former National Security Agency chief, was giving an off-the-record press interview with journalists on a train, but did not know that Tom Matzzie, the former MoveOn.org Washignton D.C. director, was on the train at time. Matzzie took to Twitter to ‘leak’ the interview, sending tweets as Hayden spoke with the reporters.

According to Salon.com, Matzzie wrote that Hayden wished to be referred to as a “senior admin official.” He also criticized the Obama administration and was apparently “bragging” about black sites.

“Former NSA spy boss Michael Hayden on Acela behind me blabbing 'on background as a former senior admin official,' sounds defensive,” Matzie wrote in his first tweet during the interview, notes USA Today.

“Hayden was bragging about rendition and black sites a minute ago,” another tweet read.

Matzzie also tweeted when Hayden came over to talk with him after being notified that his messages were being shared online. “I just had a very nice conversation with Michael Hayden...He was a gentleman and we disagree,” he wrote.

They also posted for a picture together.

“I actually said these are very difficult issues,” Hayden told Reuters. “I said I had political guidance, too, that limited the things that I did when I was director of NSA. Now that political guidance is going to be more robust. It wasn't a criticism.”
