15 years ago this week Britney Spears released her first single “…Baby One More Time”. This iconic song helped start the pop frenzy era for the Gen Y club and shared popularity with bands such as N*Sync, Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera and The Spice Girls . Originally written for but rejected by both the Backstreet Boys and TLC, “Baby One More Time” immediately catapulted Spears into pop star status. The iconic video for the song portrayed the then 16 year-old Spears in a very mini catholic school girl outfit while singing and dancing around the school.

Did you know?

Britney Spears didn’t actually attend a Catholic school. She attended Parklane Academy, a Christian School in McComb, Mississippi.

The video was shot on location at Venice High School, the same school was used in the film Grease.

Spears’ love interest in the video was played by her real-life cousin Chad.

The iconic school girl outfit was cheap. Nigel Dick, the video’s director told MTV that "Every piece of wardrobe in the video came from Kmart, and I was told at the time not one piece of clothing in the video cost more than $17."

Whether you still know the words, remember watching TRL to see the video, or wore the school uniform for Halloween, “…Baby One More Time” is forever ingrained in our brains “Oh Baby Baby.”
