Hugh Jackman has a heart of gold. The Wolverine star raied $1.85 million dollars at his “One Night Only” concert for the Motion Picture & Television Fund on Saturday.
According to Deadline, Jackman dazzled the audience with his Broadway one-man show. The 45-year-old also performed musical numbers from Guys and Dolls, Carousel, and even reprised his Tony award-winning performance from The Boy From Oz.
E! Online reports that Jackman performed to a star-studded crowd in Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre. Tom Cruise, Olivia Munn, Terrence Howard, Kristin Davis, Darren Criss, Maria Bello, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Neil Sedaka, diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, and Robbie Rogers were all in attendance along with 4,500 other guests.
The night was special not only because of the successful benefit, but also because it happened to be Jackman’s 45th birthday.
After the benefit Jackson spoke to the press saying, “A lot of guys would say to their wife, ‘Do you mind if I play golf with my buddies?’ That’s how I am about the show. I love it. If there's a song I don't like, I cut it and bring in a new song. Everything is something I want to do. So to be here tonight, supporting this cause—and it couldn't have been a more generous crowd if it tried—In every way it was great."
Jackman also donated some of his memorabilia for the cause. He auctioned off a pair of Wolverine claws and two undershirts he had performed in that night. There are also nine cars on eBay that have his signature engraved on the glovebox.
Other Hollywood stars also donated items for the organization to auction off. Jennifer Lawrence, Clint Eastwood, Anne Hathaway, Ron Howard, Barbara Streisand, Hans Zimmer, Kate Hudson, Will.I.Am and Ryan Friedlinghaus donated signatures.
