A young Indian girl, believed to be about 13 or 14-years-old, died on Wednesday after she was gang raped by three men and set on fire.
The girl, who has not been identified, and her older sister were at a farm in the Sirsa Kalaar district of the northern city of Orai when three villagers grabbed the girl. They then dragged her off into a secluded area where they gang raped her, reports The Times of India.
When the girl told the three men that she would alert the villagers to what they did, they set her on fire. Her older sister then ran to the village for help and returned with villagers, but it was too late.
The young girl suffered severe burns to 80 percent of her body and died the next day at a nearby hospital. The girl’s mother and father have not yet filed a complaint with the police regarding the incident, according to the Huffington Post.
Police are currently searching for the three men who attacked the girl.
One of the attackers has reportedly been identified, however, as Ram Badahur, who is a local thug from the village near where the girl was burned. The two other attackers have also been identified by the girl’s parents but their names have not been released.
