The Jonas Brothers are commenting on Miley Cyrus’ MTV Video Music Awards performance in a new interview, saying they actually laughed at it and thought it was funny.
The famous brothers -- Kevin, Joe and Nick – talked to Out magazine about an array of subjects, including Cyrus.
Joe said of the twerk-filled performance, “It wasn’t my favorite performance of hers. I think that there’s one way of saying you’ve grown up, and there’s another way — I think that’s her way. Look, people are talking about it, so I think it’s working for what she wants.”
Nick, who previously dated Cyrus, added, “She’s smart. She’s very smart. We’ve always known that about her. She’ll always be successful. [The performance] was funny — I was laughing.”
The trio of brothers, who recently took some time off to pursue separate projects, also talked about their own process of maturing into young adults. They also tackled gay rumors, with Joe, who has dated Ashley Greene and Taylor Swift, saying they fit into the stereotype because they’re in a boy band.
“We have a lot of gay friends and gay fans. It’s a boy band stereotype; people assume, but we don’t take offense,” he said Just Jared reports.
Joe also said of getting older that people will always find negative in what they do, so “let’s just be who we are and have opinions — whether it’s on politics or music — and really show who we are as people.”
