Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd are reportedly being considered for Marvel's Ant-Man.
Variety is exclusively reporting that sources have said that Levitt and Rudd are both in the running for the title role of the film.
The sources add that while it's technically possible that another actor could snag the role, it's more likely to be either Rudd or Levitt. Evidently director Edgar Wright isn't really looking for a muscle bound actor for the role, but would prefer a more normal actor for Ant-Man.
Levitt and Rudd are supposed to meet with Marvel once more before any final decisions are made, the sources are saying.
Ant-Man is Hank Pym's alter-ego after he discovered "Pym Particles," which allows him to create a suit that allows him to shrink down. He was created in 1962 by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee.
As previously reported in September, Marvel gave Ant-Man a summer 2015 release date. The plan originally called for Ant-Man to be released in November, but Disney moved it earlier to its July 31, 2015 date.
The move came because Sony made Nov. 6 the opening date for the next James Bond film and no one wants to be in box office competition with that.
