Actor/singer Justin Timberlake's last blockbuster In Time is now being sued by a greek writer who claims that the film is too similar to a film he had already written a synopsis for back in the mid 90s and is demanding $4.5 million from 20th Century Fox and New Regency pictures.
The man's name is Odysseus Lappas according to BBC and he claims to have written something eerily familiar in 1996 entitled Time Card and was filed with the Writer's Guild of America. 20th Century Fox offered to buy the rights from Lappas for a small chunk of change but Lappas wanted a bigger part of the production and declined the offer, and was given a contract stating that if his story was used he would be paid accordingly. Of course Lappas has yet to be paid accordingly.
According to Variety the New Regency spokesperson did not comment on the issue and left the matter unclosed. The plot by Lappas has only a few differences than the actual film itself, but is it enough to win the lawsuit?
