Lance Armstrong gives details about his drug scandal and the effect it had on his career.
The Armstrong Lie goes into the last four years of Armstrong's life. The Stack reports that the documentary was originally titled The Road Back, and was supposed to show Armstrong's comeback. However, since his scandal involving him using performance enhancement drugs, the purpose for the film was revised.
Alex Gibney, Academy Award-winning filmmaker, first planed to cover Armstrong's return to cycling after his retirement, and with his attempt to win another Tour De France title, making it his eighth.
The film gives audiences an inside view of Armstrong's life. Gibney interviewed Armstrong's doctors and and former teammates. This was before the scandal broke out.
The Wrap reports that because Armstrong constantly denied using performing enhancement drugs multiple times, as well as in an interview with Gibney, He created a very bad image of himself.
In the documentary, Armstrong admitted that he never thought he would get caught.
Gibney also produced the documentary alongside Frank Marshall (The Bourne Legacy) and Matthew Tolmach (The Amazing Spider-Man).
The film is scheduled to release on Nov. 8 in select theaters.
