Jennifer Lawrence is signed on to do two projects with her Hunger Games director Gary Ross, but they can only make one at a time and will start with Burial Rites. The two are currently in talks with Lionsgate, which is looking to acquire the project.

Burial Rites is based on the new novel by Hannah Kent, which was just published last month by Little, Brown, reports Variety. The novel is set in 1829 Iceland, where a woman is convicted of murder. While she’s waiting for her death sentence to be carried out, she has to live with a family that is horrified by having to take care of a convicted murderess.

Accoridng to The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence will play the murderess, Agnes Magnúsdóttir. Ross, who directed the first Hunger Games film, will direct. Lionsgate is in talks to pick up the project, which began going around Hollywood last week.

Deadline had reported on the Burial Rites news first.

As previously reported, Ross and Lawrence are also looking to reteam for East of Eden at Universal. Ross is looking to make a faithful adaptation of the John Steinbeck novel and it may be turned into two films.

Lawrence will be seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on Dec. 22 and in American Hustle in December. Among her several upcoming projects is X-Men: Days of Future Past.
