In need of an uplifting album to listen to? Well then step right up and listen to Malea's Prism. Malea is just overflowing with positivity and willing to share through her songs. The album does take some time to grow on you. It took several listens before some of the middle tracks sufficiently grew on me.

The album starts off with the energetic and excellent "Satellites," filled with Malea's thunderous singing over an electronic beat. The song has an epic feel and almost sets the tone for the rest of the album. Only problem is, "Satellites" is clearly the most energetic track, which is somewhat of a letdown.

Single "Running in the Desert" is a good track, but falls short within the context of the album as it is overshadowed by the opening track. My issue with that track is the chorus just made me think of the song "Running from the Devil" by Van Halen, which kind of soured the track for me.

"Reason to Survive" is a fairly standard track, kind of a break from the medium energy from earlier tracks. A breather, but not especially interesting slow song. Almost felt like a filler track, which isn't good for an album that's already fairly short.

Malea has an excellent voice and Prism gives her ample opportunity to show it off. It rises above the music, which is never anything special and largely forgettable. It feels that the album is mainly focused on her voice and not much else, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but could have made the album better if the music was stronger.

The album returns to its energetic start with the closing track "Give," which provides a strong ending to the album.

There are a few duds on the album like "Follow The Thunder." The track is just a weak link among stronger tracks. Prism is a fairly good album, the only thing that really disappointed me is that the album's best track is the opener and nothing else comes as close.
