Miley Cyrus has given us quite the eclectic taste of style in her short 20 years of life. Ranging from cute Hannah Montana pop star, to edgy, almost sexy Can't be Tamed. With her new album Bangerz she shows us that she's more than mature and not the Disney star we once knew. She's an adult and she's proud. Very proud.

Adore You
The album opener starts out with a catchy synthesized beat followed by Miley busting her lungs crying "are you listening?" and other generic love song lyrics like, "when you say you love me/know I love you more" and it never really grows into anything more than just the usual depressing teenage girl ballad. Not the best album opener. 2.5/5

We Can't Stop
We Can't Stop is where Bangerz really starts. It's a classic party anthem, but it's Miley doing the classic party anthem. Take 'Party in the USA' and bring it up 100% and you get this. It's immensely catchy and overly sexual. The lyrics are pretty typical with Miley singing things like, "we are so turned up now" and, "can't you see it's we who own the night" it's the beat that'll keep your hands in the air for multiple plays. 4/5

SMS (Bangerz)
Starts off terrible with a 90s beat, then Miley comes in and the song only gets worse. It's 90s flare with a hint of Nikki Minaj ripoff. Miley tries her best to rap but simply fail with a poor beat and even worse lyrics. With an irritating high pitch voice in the background saying, "Bangerz" the whole time. The only redeeming factor of this song is Britney Spears guest appearance, her vocals are a warm welcome to the rest of this atrocious song. Put this one on skip. 1/5

4X4
After 'SMS' I had my fingers crossed for something awesome. And I got it. Miley tries her best at country/pop and completely nails it. Catchy, daring, awesome. This is Miley Cyrus doing her thing, while the lyrics aren't the strongest, they sure aren't the worst either. This is the first song on the album where we really get to hear Miley's voice fully, it's rough at times and beautiful at other. The whole spectrum is there. '4X4' is fun, upbeat and a blast to listen to. 5/5

My Darlin'
Heavy synth, low bass beat, and mellow smooth vocals encompass most of this ballad. Probably the first filler of the album, it's generic, slow and boring. Once in a while we get Miley belting out some impressive vocals, but we've come to expect this now 5 tracks in. Featured artist Future was truly a poor choice for this song, the vocals don't match the beat and is always off. It's got some cool stuff there, but no one would miss it if it wasn't. 2.5/5

Wrecking Ball
The hit single from the album and it's one of the albums best songs still. It's fantastic. With strong lyrics behind Miley's empowering vocals. When the first chorus hits, and the beat drops, chills will ensue. This is a break-up song done 100% correctly. It's sexy, edgy, and irresistibly catchy. 'Wrecking Ball' will be stuck on repeat for a long time. 5/5

Love Money Party
Not sure if this is a statement, or a just bad song. But if I can't tell the difference, it's probably the latter. We once again hear Miley attempt to rap. It's ugly. We want to hear her belt out those lungs we heard the song prior. The chills that were left from 'Wrecking Ball' are quickly whisked away with "Love Money Party." Granted the verses are great but it's not enough to salvage the atrocious chorus. 2/5

#GETITRIGHT
Don't let the name of the song scare you. It's actually pretty damn good. It's oddly reminiscent of Can't Be Tamed and it feels insanely Madonnaesque. This song should have followed 'Wrecking Ball' as we get Miley's brilliant voice in an incredibly sexy, sultry song. 4.5/5

Drive
This is where Bangerz shines. 'Drive' is a well-produced, well written ("You told me that you wanted this/ I told you it was all yours/If you're done with it/ Then what did you say forever for?") and undeniably awesome song. It's another pop ballad, sure but it's Miley Cyrus proving she's better than the rest out there. She's giving Adele and Taylor Swift a run for their money, and she's doing a damn fine job at it. 5/5

FU
I love, love this song. It's angry Miley and she's never sounded better. Starting off with deep growls and hook you in from the start, to a pre-chorus that's haunting and melodic blasting off into the chorus which simply won't get old for some time to come. The featured artist French Montana blends and matches Miley's beautiful vocals very well, and the lyrics are sure to make you smile and root for Ms. Cyrus the whole time. Easily the best song of the album. 5/5

Do My Thang
Despite some of the worst lyrics on the album, this song soars pretty high. You can't help but appreciate what Miley is doing on this track. It's a giant (proud) middle finger to all her haters, it's actually pretty awesome. Again we get vocals from every range, to smooth and calming in the chorus, to intimidating and sexy in the verses. It's an eccentric song but it works. 4/5

Maybe You're Right
12 tracks in and we're still not done with the break-up songs. At this point the album does start to get tiresome. It's not quite filler, but this song isn't entirely necessary. It's good and we get a nice range of impressive vocals again, but it's simply boring after so many tracks it. Lyrically it's uninspiring and the beat hardly seems original. 2.5/5

Someone Else
This is the album completely wrapped up in one song. And what an album closer it is. It encompasses everything Miley's used for the past 13 tracks. It's epic, it's haunting, it's absolutely stunning. Once the song ends (if you don't put it on repeat 100 times) you'll be on team Miley Cyrus in a heartbeat. She's simply irresistible and 'Someone Else' shows superb song-writing that shows she is fully aware of who she is and she's perfectly okay with it. It's the perfect ending to a great album. Nicely done Miley. 5/5

Bangerz is a bit of a mess with some oddly placed songs, and too much filler and break-up songs, but is redeemed by the overall quality of the others. The second half is noticeably better than the first. It's catchy pop that'll be stuck in people's brains for next months to come. This is Miley Cyrus saying, "yeah, I've changed and I like who I am, so here's a middle finger to the haters" and she's never sounded better doing it. I give Bangerz as a whole 4 stars out of 5.
