Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo, is in hot water for a photo shoot she did at the Taj Mahal in India. She did it while on a 10-day tour of India to help spread the word about women’s rights.
After finding out Culpo modeled multiple pairs of shoes at the Diana Seat, which is a famous marble ledge, the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) is threatening to file a complaint.
According to The Huffington Post, the ASI argues "any branding or publicity on the Taj premises is prohibited."
The official from the ASI told The Hindustan Times, “We are gathering information from the tourism police about those who were managing the visit. After we get the names, an FIR would be lodged against the agency involved in violating norms at the Taj.”
While photographers snapped shots of Culpo and the shoes with the Taj in the background, police officials didn’t’ say a word. As a result, tourism police and CISF staff that were on duty will likely be approached about the situation.
The Miss Universe Organization has since released a statement to the Huffington Post, saying, “Throughout her reign, the Miss Universe Organization continually creates video diaries of our titleholder to keep fans and sponsors up to date on her travels and to share in the experience.
As part of these videos, we sometimes incorporate sponsors into these shoots. The filming that took place outside the Taj Mahal was never intended to be used as a commercial nor was it meant in any way to be disrespectful."
