New street art from Banksy was vandalized and then painted over not long after it first appeared.
The street art showed two kids, with one standing on the back of the other as he reached for a spray can on a sign, New York Magazine reports. The sign read, "Graffiti Is a Crime."
The sign, which was a part of the art, was quickly stolen and then the whole piece was painted over.
The new art was a part of his new show in New York City, entitled "Better Out Than In" and each piece comes with a phone number to call that will provide listeners with an audio guide of each piece.
According to The Herald Sun, those who call the number are greeted with: "Before you, you will see 'spray art' by the artist Ban-sky. Or maybe not. It's probably been painted over by now."
The first spray art, now gone, was painted on the border of the Lower East Side and Chinatown.
The sarcastic audio for that particular piece said, "This piece is typical of Bank-sky's output. The children in this case represent youth, and the sign represent, well, signs."
