The second trailer for the upcoming The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has been released online.
This trailer provides a better idea of what the second film, based off the one book The Hobbit, will contain, MTV notes.
The trailer shows that Desolation of Smaug will focus on the middle of the book with Bilbo and his Dwarf company moving on from the end of the first movie and getting closer to the Misty Mountains, and eventually into them. The company is shown dealing with spiders, elves - their escape in the barrels, and Bilbo finally getting into the mountain.
The Los Angeles Times notes that many important characters come to be introduced in the trailer, such as Legolas (played by Orlando Bloom), Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans) and Thranduil (Lee Pace) - who amused the internet with his short appearance in the first film.
The trailer also shows off Benedict Cumberbatch's menacing voice for Smaug, and quick snatches of the humongous dragon himself, tauntingly saying, "Come on now. Don't be shy. Step into the light," while attempting to burn Bilbo with his fire.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is out in theaters Dec. 13.
