Nirvana, Hall and Oates, Kiss, and more have been the list for the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominations.
The Replacements, Cat Stevens, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, LL Cool J, N.W.A., Chic, Link Wray, Yes, the Meters, Linda Ronstadt and the Zombies are also nominated.
According to Rolling Stone, those with the most votes will be inducted into the famed Hall of Fame in April. These bands were eligible because they had released an album in the year 1988 or before it.
This is the first nomination for Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, the Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Link Wray, Cat Stevens, Yes and the Zombies, although Gabriel was inducted with his band Genesis in 2009.
MTV News notes this is the first time Nirvana has been eligible to land on the list, as they released a cover of Shocking Blue’s “Love Buzz” in late 1988 and they dominated the music scene in the 1990s. They released three albums in their career.
