A high-speed chase took place in New York City last Sunday – but it was far from one you'd typically see in a movie. After an SUV driver tapped into one of the bikers, the other members in the gang got furious and attacked the vehicle.

The driver was headed north on Manhattan's West Side Highway around 2 p.m., reports ABC News.

One biker darted in front of the Range Rover, not giving the 33-year-old driver enough time to hit his brakes. When vehicle's fendor tapped the motorcycle, chaos ensued. Twenty to 30 bikers surrounded the SUV, hitting the car and slashing one of the tires. Panicked, and trying to protect his wife and 2-year-old son who were in the vehicle with him, the driver drove off to escape, running over three bikers in the process and breaking the leg of one, according to CBS News.

When the driver slowed down, another biker ripped open the driver's side door, causing the driver to speed off again, with the bikers close behind.

The driver again slowed to a stop when he hit traffic when a biker started smashing the Range Rover's windows while others assaulted the driver. The driver received medical treatment and stitches, while his family was untouched.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly claims that the bikers are a group called the “Hollywood Stunts,” and were participating in an annual street ride. "This is a major stunt event where motorcyclists from various locations come together. Their ultimate goal is to get into Times Square, which they did last year," Kelly said. "Quite frankly, it wasn't on anybody's radar screen last year. We were aware of it this year."

Officials continue to investigate the incident, talking to witnesses and reviewing the accounts of what exactly happened. Two motorcyclists have been arrested to date, charged with reckless endangerment, reckless menacing and endangering the welfare of a child. The driver will not be charged with anything.
