An Oklahoma resident may have shown a little too much Halloween spirit when he created a terrifyingly realistic-looking decoration of a murder scene.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Johnnie Mullins and his family go all-out for Halloween every year, but this year, they took it one step further. He told the local television station, News 9, that they were “just trying to scare people.”

Their elaborate decoration included two very realistic corpses sprawled out on the ground – one crushed under the garage door and the other under a vehicle wheel - with blood all around them. The display spurred several neighbors to dial 911 to report the scene. Even after officials confirmed that the bodies were fake, they dispatchers continued to receive calls from people, both those worried about a real murder as well as angry people reporting that the prank scared their children.

Neighbor Rebecca Fuentes was not pleased with the so-called Halloween fun. “My heart about came out of my chest. I thought, ‘Oh my God,'" Fuentes told News 9. “If I think it's real, just think of what a child would think?”

Along with the two bodies, there is a sign on the garage door that says, “You're next,” as well as spider webs, skeletons, crosses and RIP signs throughout the yard.

“People think we went too far, and you know, we're devil worshipers and we must not be Christian folk,” the 32-year-old Jennifer Mullins. “They've said all kinds of stuff. But we're normal. We love Jesus. We celebrate Halloween.”

The mom of two thought it was silly that people thought the display was real. “I'd probably put two and two together, seeing the decorations in the front yard and then seeing the bodies and then think, 'Oh, it's Halloween,'” she said.
