A 14-year-old teen was out on a deer hunting trip with two men when he shot and killed both of them before he shot and wounded himself on accident.
The teenager from Baker City, Oregon was reportedly staying with at least three other men in a cabin in the Blue Mountains this week when the incident occurred.
Police have not said whether the shooting of the two men happened on accident or whether it was intentional. They have also not released information saying whether the shooting occurred inside the cabin or somewhere outside.
Following the shooting, the teen reportedly fled the scene of the crime but allegedly shot and wounded himself in the leg by accident and returned to the cabin for help, according to a statement from Grant County Sheriff Glenn Palmer. When he got back inside the cabin, one of other men who were staying at the cabin pointed his gun at the teen and forced him to get on the floor before taping him to a chair.
The teen was taken to a nearby hospital in Baker City for treatment before he was later transferred to St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho. Hospital officials have not released a statement saying whether the boy is still in their care, or what his condition is.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the two men who were killed, pending the notification of their families. They have said that the men were 43 and 64 years old.
Sheriff Palmer would not say if the teen has been arrested for the shootings. More information, including the possible motive and the teen’s relationship to the two killed, will be released once family members are notified.
