Paramount has officially moved Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit to January 2014, which should give the studio the ability to move Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street to Christmas Day.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Hunter, which stars Chris Pine (Star Trek) as the Tom Clancy-created hero, was originally supposed to be released on Dec. 25. But once Wolf of Wall Street’s status came into question, so did Jack Ryan’s.
Last month, The Hollywood Reporter had reported that Scorsese and his team were trying to cut his Leonardo DiCaprio-starring film, as it ran 180 minutes. Then, it suddenly began to look like it wouldn’t be ready for this year’s Oscar race. However, earlier this week, it began to look as if it would be ready for Christmas Day. By moving Jack Ryan, it looks like this is the plan.
According to Deadline, Jack Ryan is officially slated for Jan. 17, 2014. However, the studio still hasn’t confirmed any change for Wolf of Wall Street.
Jack Ryan is directed by Thor’s Kenneth Branagh and co-stars Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner. It is an original story featuring the Clancy character.
If The Wolf of Wall Street is coming out on Christmas Day, it will no longer be opening on the same day as Sony’s American Hustle. That film is now being released a week earlier.
