Paul McCartney surprised fans in London by playing a show at Covent Garden on Friday.
The Associated Press reports that the Beatles singer played a free show in front of fans, since he seems to love playing live, especially as of late.
McCartney continued off previous performances by playing songs off his new album New during a large lunchtime crowd. The crowd began gathering as they noticed crews setting up speakers in Convent Garden in the morning.
Contact Music notes that the singer did provide a little advance warning tweeting, "I'm getting ready to pop up in Convent Garden at 1pm today. Oh baby!"
McCartney played for about 20 minutes before ending the show by simply saying, "Thank you very much. OK now, back to work!"
Last week, McCartney played a free show in New York's Times Square, BBC News notes. The free outdoor concerts were his daughter, Stella McCartney's idea. "She said, 'what you should do is just pop up somewhere and do a gig, and everyone will just get their phones out and they'll tweet it.'"
The 71-year-old musician said he found that to be a good idea and went with it.
