Paul McCartney's novel is turning into a 3-D-animated film.
McCartney wrote High in the Clouds in 2005 with the help of Geoff Dunbar and Philip Ardagh.
The story, according to Newswire, is about a squirrel named Wirral who is driven from his home in the woods by developers and animal haters. He goes on a quest to an animal sanctuary called Animalia. On his journey he is joined by his friends Froggo, Wilhamina and Ratsy.
Variety reports that executive producers Randa Ayoubi and David Corbett of RGH Entertainment, and producers Michael Lynne and Bob Shaye of Unique Features, are all signed up for the project.
Tony Bancroft (Mulan) will direct a screenplay by Josh Klausher (Shrek Forever After).
"We know how special this project is for Sir Paul and how excited he is to be a part of this wonderful, creative collaboration," said Lynne.
McCartney will also compose seven original songs for the film.
"'High in the Clouds' is a passion project for me," McCartney said. "I am thrilled to be working in partnership with Randa Ayoubi and David Corbett at RGH, and David Michael Lynne and Bob Shaye of Unique Features. Working with the highly creative talent at these companies together with Josh Klausner and Tony Bancroft, we will be able to create a warm, funny and moving animated film that will resonate with worldwide audiences."
The 3-D animation is set to be released in 2015.
