A film poster promoting the biopic about the late Princess Diana’s life starring Noami Watts that appeared on the site of her fatal car crash has been taken down due to public outrage.
The poster was placed above the tunnel Diana got into the accident in over the Alma underpass in Paris, with her closest friends and family calling it another move to exploit her.
"I really don't have any words to describe how I feel about this cynical and shameless attempt to publicize a film that should never have been made,” said Rosa Monckton, one of her closest friends, People reports.
"To have made a film so speculative and as this is disgusting enough, but to then advertise it on the spot at which she died is despicable,” she added, “It is a terrible intrusion into her memory, not to mention the lives of her sons, whose feelings are often forgotten in these stories. I would expect them to take it down right now."
A spokesman for Paris City Hall also commented, saying the posters were up legally and that the one above the traffic tunnel is “one of many.”
Diana will hit theaters in the U.S. on Nov. 1, but the British press have already ripped it apart.
