Sticks and stones may break my bones but harsh words will earn me 10K.

A Red Lobster waitress in Franklin, Tennessee earned over $10,000 through an online fundraiser after posting the photo of a racial slur written on her tip receipt
from one of her customers.

The teenage waitress, 19-year-old Toni Jenkins, was blown away when she picked up her receipt to learn that not only didn’t she earn a tip but the “Total” line had the N-word written across it, according to ABC News. “I was just stunned that it happened,” the 19-year-old states.

On Sept. 10th Jenkins posted a photo of the receipt on her Facebook account, unaware that it would go viral cause such an uproar. She was shocked to learn that an online fundraiser earned her $10,749.00. The fundraiser, “Tips for Toni”, was initiated by Matthew Hanson of AddictingInfo.org, whose motive was to send a message to racists that Americans are not going to tolerate that, acording to ABC News. “We raised $10,000 in 72 hours. It was amazing” Hanson states in reports.

Hanson presented the check to Jenkins on Sept. 30th to make up for the non-tip she received for the $44.53 bill. “I was blessed and so honored that so many people came together on my behalf to give this to me”. According to MSN Now Jenkins had no knowledge of the fundraiser and the gesture increased her faith in people. She states in MSN reports that these types of racist incidents “is not something you think in our generation would actually take place”.
