Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake's new film falls below expectations at the box office.

Over it's 3-day US debut, Runner Runner managed to make only $7.6 million in the box office, The Wrap reports. Rotten Tomatoes gave it an 8 percent positive rating, with fans giving the film a C on Cinema Score.

Even with Ben Affleck receiving critical acclaim and a Best Picture Oscar for Argo, as well as Timberlake's music success, this film still managed to fail.

Perhaps it was the marketing campaign that failed to hype up the release why no one went to see it. Or perhaps it was timing, with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney's Gravity opening in the same weekend, making an October box office record with $55.6 million.

Runner Runner is directed by Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer). It is the story of a college student who can barely pay his loans. He finds an opportunity to get rich fast, but ends up being double-crossed.

Runner Runner had a budget of $33 million. Although it was not successful in the United States, it is making big numbers overseas, with $23.6 million, Variety reports.
