Sandra Bullock was not initially one of the top choices for the role in the upcoming film Gravity.
According to Fox News, the role was written with Angelina Jolie in mind. But then the role was offered to several other stars, such as Scarlett Johansson, Marion Cotillard and Blake Lively.
Curaon also offered the role to Natalie Portman without a screen test needed, but the Black Swan actress declined the part.
Bullock also found it an interesting choice since she is not a fan of flying. "I don't like to fly. I've never been a good flyer."
"I have a lot of friends that have permanent nail marks in their arms... The moaning that comes from me when there is turbulence. It's awkward for everyone around."
The director Cuaron also sat down and talked about the film with Los Angeles Times ahead of its Friday release.
He mentioned that he wrote the screenplay with his son Jonas after he showed it to his father almost five years ago. His son wanted the movie to be "an emotional rollercoaster" that focused heavily on the "emotional journey" of the character, mixed in with tense action.
Cuaron said he was inspired to do the movie as it focuses mostly on one character and reminded him of films he's enjoyed, such as Steven Spielberg's Duel.
Gravity opens Friday in theaters.
