When employees of the Victoria's Secret on 34th Street in Manhattan stopped a girl they suspected was shoplifting, they never dreamed they'd find what they saw inside her bag.

According to NBC New York, security officers smelled something pungent coming from two girlfriends shopping in the lingerie store and stopped them for inspection. What he found inside her bag was a human fetus. Apparently, the teenage girl had suffered a miscarriage the day before the incident.

The Washington Post reports that the 17-year-old girl who had given birth was taken to Bellevue Hospital while her friend, also 17, was taken into custody for questioning.

As for the fetus, it is currently unknown whether the fetus was stillborn or was born alive. An autopsy is underway to determine the cause of death. Officials did, however, report that the fetus did not appear to have any signs of experienced trauma. For now, the girls have been charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, and they could face further charges depending on the outcome of the autopsy results.
