Two National Guardsmen were shot Thursday after getting into a fight with a fellow Guardsman at the National Guard Armory in Millington, Tennessee.

Three National Guardsmen got into a fight at around noon on Thursday just outside of the naval base when one of the men suddenly pulled a small handgun on the other two. WMC-TV reports that the third Guardsman then shot the other two, one in the foot and the other in the leg.

The two injured are both recruiters for the navy and are a Major and a Sergeant Major, but their names have not been released. Following the shooting, they were both taken to the nearby Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Millington police chief Rita Stanback said in a statement that other men at the armory were able to subdue the shooter and take him into custody, reports CNN. The name of the shooter has not been released.

"I'm sure there could have been more injury if they hadn't taken him into custody," Stanback said, according to USA Today.

The base was put on a lockdown following the shooting, even though the shooting itself did not occur on the base. The lockdown lasted only 90 minutes and was lifted after the shooter was arrested.

"This is not Navy related," a military official told NBC News.

Major General Max Haston told WMC-TV that everyone around the armory and on the base responded to the shooting as they should have and followed all the protocols, but he is still concerned because incidents like Thursday's shooting do still happen.
