Houston-area McDonald's restaurants are enforcing a dress code not only for its employees, but also for its customers. Now, along with the “no shoes, no shirt” policy, baggy pants will be added to the list of clothing decisions the fast-food restaurant will deny service to.

According to Yahoo, at least two McDonald's in the area put up signs that read, “Pull your pants up or don't come in. Try to have some decency and respect for others. No one wants to see your underwear,” a manager said.

Dallas City Council member Dwaine Caraway supports the dress code, saying that people who wear baggy pants in public “show a tremendous disrespect for society, themselves, and especially women."

KHOU News reports that the majority of the restaurant's customers agree. One customer said, “That’s why I went ahead and came in. I commend them for that.” “It’s private property; they have a right to enforce their rules. Sagging your pants coming in is ridiculous,” said another.

However, some feel that the dress-code enforcement is a violation of rights. Yet another customer voiced their opinion, saying, “This is a free country, so people get to do what they want to do, if they want to walk into a store with pants sagging, it’s up to them.”

Other Texas businesses have joined the baggy-pants-ban movement, including entire malls and the public bus system. Some establishments and apartment complexes have even fined or evicted renters for wearing saggy pants.

As for the rest of the coutry, individual McDonald's franchises will be free to set their own dress-code policies. Corporate McDonald's made a statement that, “Owner-operated franchises can customize the experience for their customers.”
