The Bushwick Hotel is a group that brings high energy into every song they create. The rock band mimics the music of David Bowie, the Flaming Lips, Elvis Costello and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but in their own style. They deliver an individuality in their music that is quite refreshing.
Graffiti of the Young Man's Mind opens with an extremely long instrumental bit for the first song of the album, “Take Care of My Girl.” Once the singing chimes in, the song gets chaotic and difficult to follow. There is definitely too much going on in the song. The album does not improve much from there. Several of the tracks were messy and disorganized, making them hard to follow and distracting from the actual quality of the music. The instrumentals were good, but they all blended together and sounded the same.
The Bushwick Hotel is made up of vocalist/guitarist Gregory Ferreira, Matt La Von (tenor, alto and soprano sax/clarinet/background vocals), DB Tamir (bass/background vocals), Rudy Temiz (slide guitar/background vocals) and Ben Teters (drums/background vocals). While it is refreshing to to hear a group with that many members, the songs suffered at points when multiple people sang at once. The backup singers were never right-on, causing the songs to echo
Overall, there is nothing memorable about this album. It was hard to pick out the refrain in any of the songs, and the lyrics aren't that catchy. It definitely is not something you will have stuck in your head later, much less remember at all.
