Son of God, the movie cut of television producer Mark Burnett’s incredibly successful The Bible miniseries, will hit theaters in February 2014.
20th Century Fox, which secured the rights to release the film in September, has scheduled the film for a Feb. 28, 2014 release date, reports Deadline. The film version, although shorter than the 10-hour miniseries, will still include extra footage. Fox has also given the film a 5.1 stereo surround sound mix.
Son of God focuses on the Jesus Christ segments of The Bible and will run 135 minutes. Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado stars as Jesus.
This won't actually be the last we'll hear from Burnett on The Bible. The Voice creator's sequel will air on NBC.
Fox has had a busy afternoon. The studio scheduled David Fincher’s Gone Girl for Oct. 3. According to TheWrap, the studio has also rescheduled Frankenstein with Daniel Radcliffe to Jan. 6, 2015. It was first set to be released on Oct. 17, 2014, but that date will now go to Book of Life, an animated movie.
