To shut the gates of Hell and to end the war amongst the angels, these ambitious objectives seemed to be an unlikely victory in Season 8. As the season came to a close with Castiel (Misha Collins) being tricked into a scheme to evicted all the angels from Heaven and Dean (Jensen Ackles) abruptly stopping Sam (Jared Padalecki) from closing the gates of Hell, the fans knew that Team Freewill wouldn't be able to rest. The Season 9 premiere not only held emotion in the fact that Dean shed tears within the first ten minutes, but also because this is the finale premiere for the show. The 9th season will be the last and after the emotional premiere, the writers are leaving nothing out and no fan shall feel dissatisfaction.

As Sam lay struggling in Dean's arms at the end of season 8, the viewers were left wondering if there was any hope. After several deaths over the season, we assumed that life would never strip from him indefinitely. Death awaits the young Winchester in a cabin from a distant memory.
