Toronto police are claiming that they have a video of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine.
The announcement was made after police arrested Ford's friend on extortion charges Thursday, CBC reports. Police Chief Bill Blair says the video was seized while conducting its Project Traveller investigation.
"We have recovered a digital video file, which is consistent with that which had been previously described in various media reports," Blair said. "And that file forms part of the evidence of the charge that we have laid today."
Blair said the video shows the mayor, but refused to go into any specifics and noted that it would not be enough to charge Ford. The news was announced after court documents were released detailing search warrants for Alexander Lisi, a friend of Ford.
CBS News reports that no one is exactly sure what the video shows and The Associated Press have not seen it. The Toronto mayor remains adamant that the video does not exist.
Blair said he was "disappointed" that the video would not be enough to charge Ford and that the video would be shown in court.
