If you ever wondered what Vince Vaughn would be like in a movie where he has to hide from mob hitmen, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Universal has cancelled Term Life, a project that starred the Wedding Crashers actor with that plot.
Term Life would have co-starred True Grit actress Hailee Steinfeld. Vaughn was going to play a man running from mob hitmen just long enough so that his insurance policy would kick in to save his daughter. According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Peter Billingsley (Couples Retreat) was going to direct.
Vaughn planned to produce with Victoria Vaughn under their Wild West Picture Show Productions banner.
While it’s possible that Vaughn’s lack of recent box office success may have been the cause, Deadline notes that the recent executive shuffle at Universal may be to blame. Jeff Schell is now running the studio and Adam Fogelson is now out.
Vaughn will next be seen in Delivery Man in November and in Anchorman: The Legend Continues in December. He recently reunited with Owen Wilson for The Internship, which only grossed $44 million in total for Fox.
