A Michigan man said he was fired from his job at Wal-Mart for preventing a woman from being assaulted.
Kristopher Oswald said that there are policies against workers becoming violent with one another, but nothing against helping to stop or prevent a threatening situation.
Oswald, 30, was in his car, on break, around 2:30 am Sunday, when he saw a woman screaming after a guy had grabbed her by the arm. He went to her to see if she was okay and that is when the guy began assaulting him.
One would think that he would be treated as a hero, but no Oswald was told he was fired for “after a violation of company policy on his lunch break, it was determined to end his temporary assignment,” reports WXYZ.
Ashley Hardie, spokeswoman for Bentonville, Ark. based Wal-Mart Stores Inc., stated that Oswald’s action had violated company policy, “We had to make a tough decision, one that we don’t take lightly, and he’s no longer with the company.”
Recently Wal-Mart offered Oswald his job back according to WPTV and when asked if he would take the offer, Oswald seemed hesitant.
